All the information concerning visa applications for Belgium is available on the website of the Immigration Office of FPS Home Affairs which is the competent Belgian authority for access to the territory, stay, residence and removal of foreigners in Belgium, and on the website of the FPS Foreign Affairs.
BEWARE OF FRAUDULENT VISA AGENTS
Visa agents often charge high fees, risk to provide incorrect information, and in some cases have been found to compromise the overall credibility of an application by falsifying documentation. Please note that the Embassy of Belgium does not cooperate with any visa agent in the UAE.
Every applicant is personally responsible for submitting the required documents, even when using the services of an agent to submit a visa application. An incomplete file or incorrect documents will lead to a visa refusal.
An appointment slot at VFS for a Schengen or long stay visa is always free of charge. Visa fees are charged for the handling and processing of the visa, but not for the appointment itself. Additional services offered by VFS are optional. An appointment can only be booked via the VFS website on a first come first serve basis and is linked to the individual applicant via the Visa On Web form. Agents that pretend to have privileged access to appointment slots are fraudulent.
The processing and decision-making of all visa applications is the exclusive responsibility of the Belgian authorities. VFS Global nor any other agent is involved in the content nor outcome of the visa procedure.
How to apply for a visa?
All visa applications must be submitted through our external partner, VFS Global, either in Abu Dhabi or Dubai.
- Visit the website of VFS Global.
- Identify the type of visa you wish to apply for. Review the checklist that corresponds with your visa type to prepare the required documents.
- Once you are ready to apply, complete the visa application form on the Visa on Web (VOW) portal.
- Once you have completed the online visa application form on the VOW portal, you will be automatically directed to the VFS Global appointment system to book an appointment online at VFS Global in Dubai or Abu Dhabi.
- Attend your scheduled appointment to submit your visa application form, your passport, and the required documents. During this visa appointment, your fingerprints and photograph will be taken.
- Once submitted, your visa application file will be transferred to the Belgian Embassy in Abu Dhabi for treatment.
- During the visa processing, you can track your visa application status online.
- You will receive a message from VFS when the procedure has been completed, and your passport has been returned to the Visa Application Centre. You can pick up your passport from the Visa Application Centre, or have your passport returned to you by courier for an additional fee.
Beware, a visa application can only be accepted at VFS if:
- the applicant applies a minimum of 15 days before the travel date;
- the passport still contains at least 2 blank pages without other stickers on the backside;
- the passport bears the signature of the holder in the designated signature space;
- the visa application form has been properly filled out, printed, and signed.
