Applicants have the possibility to apply for a visa already 6 months before their travel date.

Please note that applications must be submitted minimum 15 days before the desired travel date.

Family members of Belgian or EU nationals can apply through VFS as a walk in without prior appointment.

Kindly note that:

  • Applications will only be accepted upon submission of all the required documents at VFS.
  • Visa applications have to be submitted a minimum of 15 days before departure.
  • The applicant must personally submit the completed application forms plus all necessary documents.
  • Machine readable visas (which are in all cases the type issued by this consulate) are never to be applied on the reverse side of a passport page already containing another machine readable visa (regardless of the country of issuance & the validity of that visa). Therefore, it is advisable that your passport contains at least one double blank page reserved for visas (blank front and back). Be informed that your visa will not be affixed if your passport doesn't comply with these new criteria, in which case you will be requested to submit a new passport.
  • Photo requirements: Photographs should be portrait-style and the applicant should not, as a rule, be wearing any headgear. Headgear may be permitted for religious or medical reasons provided that the face is completely visible. The fore head, cheeks, eyes, nose and chin should not be obstructed in any way. Preferably, but not necessarily, the hair and ears should also be exposed. on the photograph, the head should occupy a minimum area of 2.5cm and maximum 3.5cm. The background should be light and uniform. The first name and surname of the applicant should be written clearly on the back of the photograph. Photographs must be in colour: black-and-white photographs are no longer accepted.
  • If the visit involves two or more Schengen countries, the Embassy responsible for the issuance of the visa will be:
     
    • The Embassy of the main destination in accordance with the duration of stay.
    • If there is no clear main destination, the Embassy of the country of first entry.

Remarks:

  1. There is no legal right to a visa.
  2. The possession of a valid visa does not automatically entitle its bearer to enter the Schengen territory. Immigration authorities could also request that additional probatory documents (ie. hotel reservation, air ticket, sufficient funds, invitation letter, etc.) be produced.
  3. The purpose of the proposed visit may not be altered once the visa has been issued (after entering Schengen territory).
