Attention
On 02.02.2020, new visa regulations will enter into force:
The visa fee for adults will cost EUR 80 / AED 328, for children between 6-12 it will cost EUR 40 / AED 164
All visa applications are to be submitted through the outsourcing company VFS https://www.vfsglobal.com/belgium/UAE/visa-types.html
Family members of Belgian nationals can apply through VFS or directly through the Embassy: please send an email to abudhabi.visa@diplobel.fed.be to book an appointment and learn about the required documents.
Applicants now also have the possibility to apply for a visa already 6 months before their travel date. Please note that the application must be submitted at least 15 days before the desired travel date.

Machine readable visas and passports
Machine readable visas (which are in all cases the type issued by this consulate) are never to be applied on the reverse side of a passport page already containing another machine readable visa (regardless of the country of issuance & the validity of that visa). Therefore, it is advisable that your passport contains at least one double blank page reserved for visas (blank front and back). Be informed that your visa will not be affixed if your passport doesn't comply with these new criteria, in which case you will be requested to submit a new passport.
Visa information - general
Schengen States:
Austria, Belgium, Denmark, Finland, France, Germany, Greece, Iceland, Italy, Luxemburg, Netherlands, Norway, Portugal, Spain, Sweden, Estonia, Latvia, Lithuania, Poland, Hungary, Czech Republic, Slovakia, Slovenia, Malta, Switzerland.
The following is only a guideline for minimum requirements. Additional documentation may be requested.
Applications will only be accepted upon submission of all the required documents at VFS.
Visa applications have to be submitted a minimum of 3 weeks before departure.
The applicant must submit personally completed application forms plus all necessary documents.
If the visit involves two or more Schengen countries, the Embassy responsible for the issuance of the visa will be:
- The Embassy of the main destination in accordance with the duration of stay.
- If there is no clear main destination, the Embassy of the country of first entry.

Visa information - basic requirements for schengen visa
Airport transit visa:
- Original and copy of national passport with UAE residence permit, both valid at least three months longer than the intended stay.
- One Application form typewritten or written clearly, duly completed and signed.
- One recent photograph passport size (see details in the back).
- Return flight ticket non refundable non transferable. A booking will do when initiating the application.
- Final destination visa.
Tourism visa:
- Original and copy of national passport with UAE residence permit, both valid at least three months longer than the intended stay.
- One application form typewritten or written clearly, duly completed and signed.
- One recent photograph passport size (see details in the back).
- Letter from employer and /or sponsor stating designation, date of employment, salary, period of stay, purpose of visit, financial arrangement.
- Copy of previous Schengen visa(s) if applicable
- Original Company trade license and one copy (if applicant is the owner or the partner).
- Return flight ticket non refundable non transferable. A booking will do when initiating the application.
- Bank statements for the last three months.
- Hotel and/or tour reservation for the whole duration of stay.
- Travel medical insurance for the whole period of stay.
Visa for Nannies
- Original and copy of national passport with UAE residence permit, both valid at least three months longer than the intended stay.
- One application form typewritten or written clearly, duly completed and signed.
- One recent photograph passport size.
- Letter from employer, period of stay, purpose of visit + approval for sponsoring the nanny's trip.
- Copy of contract with salary and date of employment (minimum one year prior to the application date).
- Return flight ticket (a booking will do when initiating the application).
- Employer's bank statements for the last three months.
- Hotel or tour reservation or address of stay for the whole duration of stay.
- Travel medical insurance for the whole period of stay.
Family visit
- Original and copy of national passport with UAE residence permit, both valid at least three months longer than the intended stay.
- One application form typewritten or written clearly, duly completed and signed.
- One recent photograph passport size (see details in the back).
- Letter from employer and /or sponsor stating designation, date of employment, salary, period of stay, purpose of visit, financial arrangement.
- Copy of previous Schengen visa(s) if applicable
- Original Company trade license and one copy (if applicant is the owner or the partner).
- Return flight ticket non refundable non transferable. A booking will do when initiating the application.
- Bank statements for the last three months.
- Invitation signed by the host and legalized by the city hall in Belgium.
- Copy of host’s identity card or passport.
- Host’s salary certificate fore the last three month.
- Proof of family link (BIRTH CERTIFICATE)
- Travel medical insurance for the whole period of stay.
Business visa:
- Original and copy of national passport with UAE residence permit, both valid at least three months longer than the intended stay.
- One application form typewritten or written clearly, duly completed and signed.
- One recent photograph passport size(see details in the back).
- Letter from employer and/or sponsor stating designation, date of employment, salary, period of stay, purpose of visit, financial arrangement.
- Copy of previous Schengen visa(s) if applicable
- Company trade license (if applicant is the owner or the partner); original and one copy.
- Return flight ticket non refundable non transferable. A booking will do when initiating the application.
- Invitation letter sent by business partner in Schengen state, mentioning duration, purpose and financial arrangement of stay.
- Travel medical insurance for the whole period of stay.
- Hotel reservation for the whole duration of stay.
Remarks:
- There is no legal right to a visa.
- The possession of a valid visa does not automatically entitle its bearer to enter the Schengen territory. Immigration authorities could also request that additional probatory documents (ie. hotel reservation, air ticket, sufficient funds, invitation letter, etc.) be produced.
- The purpose of the proposed visit may not be altered once the visa has been issued (after entering Schengen territory).

Photo requirements:
Photographs should be portrait-style and the applicant should not, as a rule, be wearing any headgear. Headgear may be permitted for religious or medical reasons provided that the faceis completely visible. The fore head, cheeks, eyes, nose and chin should not be obstructed in any way. Preferably, but not necessarily, the hair and ears should also be exposed. on the photograph, the head should occupy a minimum area of 2.5cm and maximum 3.5cm. The background should be light and uniform. The first name and surname of the applicant should be written clearly on the back of the photograph. Photographs must be in colour: black-and-white photographs are no longer accepted.
