For certain types of visa applications you will need to present legalized documents, as well as a translation. Please follow the steps for the legalization process at the Embassy in Abu Dhabi, as explained on our webpage on legalization.
Make sure that you complete the legalization process first, before submitting a visa application. Legalizations cannot be added to your file after having submitted the application.
The Belgian Embassy in Abu Dhabi can only legalize documents issued in the UAE. If you are presenting an official document issued in another country, the document will have to be legalized there by our competent Embassy (for example, a birth certificate issued in Lebanon will need to be legalized by our Embassy in Beirut).
A document in another language than French, Dutch, German or English, will have to be presented together with a legalized translation. For visa applications, legalized translations in English are accepted. Please note that for the use of these documents in Belgium, the competent authorities will not accept an English translation and a legalized translation in one of the national languages will have to be presented.
