You can only apply for a passport if you are registered in the consular population register.
How to apply for a passport?
You need to come to the Embassy by appointment to record your biometric data: photo, fingerprints and signature.
Please make an appointment online via e-Appointment.
Registration of biometric data is mandatory for all persons above 6 years old.

Children under 6 years old
For children under 6 years old, you do not need to come to the Embassy, but you can send the request by courier to the Embassy with the application form, a pass photo and proof of payment.

Parental authority - signature of the parents
A passport for a minor can only be issued to the parent(s) that hold(s) legal parental authority. Belgium follows the legislation on parental authority of the country where the minor resides. In the UAE parental authority lies with the father.
Additionally, we can only issue a passport for a minor to the parent with whom the child resides.
This means the application form for a minor must always at least be signed by the father, and in case the child resides with the mother, also by the mother.
In the case of exclusive parental authority of the mother, you need to provide legal proof to exempt the father from signing the application form. Please note that having custody of a child does not necessarily mean having the exclusive parental authority.
Accompanying the minor
Please note that minors need to be accompanied by a parent when submitting their application at the Embassy.
Passport for a newborn
For a child born in the UAE a registration process must be done at the Embassy before a passport can be requested. Please check the procedure on our webpage on the registration of newborns.
What documents should I bring?
At the appointment, you must submit the following documents:
- the completed and correctly signed application form for adults and children above 6 years old;
- the current passport for verification;
- the Emirates ID.

How and when can I pick up my passport?
The production of a new passport takes approximately 8 to 10 calendar days.
You will receive an automated e-mail informing you that your passport is ready for pick-up at the Embassy. Please check your spam folder.
There are two ways to collect your passport:
- By appointment to be made online, you come to collect the passport yourself or you can send somebody else, if the person has a power of attorney from you.
- By courier service, a courier service can collect the passport on your behalf, provided you send us an email with the courier's order number. The embassy receives couriers only on weekdays between 08:30 and 12:00. A driver, a PRO or other staff is not considered to be a courier service and will need to have an appointment.
The person who comes for pick-up must always bring your old passport for cancellation.
