1. Registration
As from 23/11/2020, the Belgian Consulate-general offers you the possibility to register online in the consular population register via your belgian identity card (please contact the Embassy by email).

You can access this website if you:
- are belgian
- you are not (no longer) registered in a Belgian municipality
- have a valid and activated Belgian ID
- know your pin code and have a card reader

2. ID cards application - update 27.04.2023
As per the Belgian Private International Law Code, the identity card application form for minors (<18 years) must be signed by the father (ideally by both parents) or in case of divorced parents by the parent with custody.
Please provide a recent photo with a white background for the application.
! As per European law, starting from June 21st 2021, fingerprints are required upon the electronic identity cards application. This implies children over 6 years need to come in person (accompanied by 1 of the parents) to the Embassy by appointment to register their biometric data.
Informative:
Belgian compatriots registered in the consular registers can request the electronic ID card/ Kids-ID card:
- in the Belgian municipality where they were last registered
- their Belgian municipality of birth if they did not live in Belgium but were born there
- a Belgian municipality of their choice if they have never lived in Belgium and were not born there either
The request of an ID card in the belgian in the municipality takes about 2 working days.

3. Passport application
